FIRST ARRIVALS

It’s been a funny run up to the season this year. Whilst we worried about green and amber lists and tried to decipher the regulations for travel to Iceland we would normally have made use of this pre-season month with at least one advanced party to the lodge to wake things up and get things ready. Luckily we have an incredibly capable team on the ground who have done a frankly incredible job transforming the lodge ready for 2021.

Alicia and Lenka have masterminded an incredible repainting of the cabins and lodge as well as set the rooms up to an impeccable standard. They have started an excellent mission to grow fresh produce for the kitchen and are currently finishing off construction on a heated greenhouse. This will mean extremely fresh and extremely local produce.

The river is in great shape with tracks renewed and repaired, benches around the pools to enjoy a break between fish and a few other projects that we will keep you posted on both here and social media.

Fishing has been slightly slower than expected but still good for a late spring as all of Iceland seemed to have. There are 90 fish in the book to date on the back of a dirty river yesterday we have high hopes for today.

We will continue to fill our news page with catches, reports and information about Iceland as the season starts to unfold.
